A grown man serves as a flower girl in cousin wedding

A grown man was asked to be the “flower girl” in his cousin’s wedding — and he happily obliged.

According to Casey, the two were in a wedding together when they were kids and that’s where the idea got started.

Casey shared on Facebook:

“I suppose everything started when we were kids. Andria (the bride) and I were in a wedding together as flower girl and ring bearer when she was three-years-old and I was five, respectively. Andria and I, our other cousins and family were close growing up in general.”

“Fast forward many years and you’d find me meeting Jake (the groom) at a Butch Walker concert. We hit it off immediately. A little further down the road, I started lobbying to be the couple’s flower man even before they were engaged. I was ecstatic when it became official!”

“I just thought it would be a fun way to commemorate their special day–after all, I’d bet all good marriages have a lot of laughter in them, so what’s wrong with including a bit of appropriate levity in one’s wedding ceremony?”

“There may have been some skeptics when the ceremony started, but I think everyone was on board with the idea after I set the flower basket (the same one Andria used in the wedding we were in together as children) down at the end of the aisle, pulled out flower petals I had stocked my pockets with and threw them in the air in the style of a LeBron James powder toss. There was an ovation. I only wish I had remembered to use the flower petals I had stuffed in one of my shoes! Maybe next time. In any case, the whole thing was approved and encouraged by Andria and Jake. I never would never have taken any attention away from them if they didn’t want me to!”

“Overall, it was a lot of fun and I’m happy I was able to be a part of/add to Andria and Jake’s wedding. I also hope this might encourage people to just have fun being themselves, that’s all I was doing. Lastly, in case anyone can’t find another option, I’d be happy to be a flower man for anyone else if they cover my travel expenses!”
