Cesc Fabregas admits he was stunned by the assist Alvaro Morata provided for Eden Hazard during Chelsea‘s 4-0 win over West Brom earlier this season.
The Spain international striker has made an impressive start to his Premier League career, scoring 12 goals in all competitions and filling the void that was created following Antonio Conte’s decision to dispense with Diego Costa.
Aside from his goalscoring, Morata has impressed with his hold-up play and has also chipped in with in with four assists, including an impudent back-heel flick which put Hazard clean through on goal at the Hawthorns back in November.
Fabregas, who has created 111 goals throughout the course of his own Premier League career, has played with Morata at international level on several occasions but admits he did not realise the former Real Madrid man possessed so much creative flair.
‘Positive play, positive run, always expecting the best from your teammate,’ he told Chelsea’s Youtube channel.
‘I told Alvaro I did not know he had this in his locker. So I was actually surprised by this pass.
‘It’s all about trust sometimes in football and they understand each other very, very well and they make things happen.
‘You can see straight away because Alvaro attacks the space very well, and when it’s not him it’s Eden.
‘I think it’s good for the team that their understanding continues.’
