Fred has remained coy about his imminent move to Manchester United with the Brazilian set to undergo a medical on Monday. The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder was in Liverpool on Sunday as Brazil sealed a 2-0 victory over Croatia at Anfield.
And Fred has been given permission to be in Manchester on Monday in order to finalise his £52 million move to United, while the rest of his Brazil teammates returned to London to continue their World Cup preparations at Tottenham’s training ground. Fred is due to return to Brazil’s training camp on Tuesday ahead of their final friendly against Austria next Sunday.
But when asked if he will be in Manchester for his medical on Monday, Fred told Globo: ‘I’m going to talk to the people, meet my friends. I still do not know where I’m going.
‘I’ll still talk to my agents to find out the reality of it. ‘I want to focus only on the national team. It’s a unique time, the World Cup.
‘We have to try to forget things from outside.’ Brazil manager Tite has also approved Jose Mourinho’s push to sign Fred for United. ‘If I were a coach, I would ask him to sign him, too,’ he said after Brazil beat Croatia.
