Man Utd board accept star will leave as Champions League rivals plot stunning move

Manchester United fear David De Gea will leave Old Trafford next summer as Real Madrid plot a fresh move for the superstar goalkeeper.

Spain international De Gea was on the verge of joining La Liga giants Real in the summer of 2015 but paperwork issues scuppered the move.

The 27-year-old shot-stopper has developed into one of the best players in the world since joining United from Atletico Madrid in 2011, being named in the Premier League PFA Team of the Year on four separate occasions.

Real remain huge admirers of De Gea and United are braced for another approach from the Champions League holders who hope to take him back to the Spanish capital to replace Keylor Navas, according to the Daily Mirror

It is also claimed the United hierarchy are becoming increasingly convinced their star player, who will have just 12 months left on his contract come the end of the season, will eventually return to his homeland.
