Mbappe sets new Champions League record ahead of Messi and Benzema

Kylian Mbappe has been in scintillating form since making his first appearance in the Champions League last season and has now set a record in the competition.

The Frenchman bagged his 10th goal in Europe’s premier competition on Tuesday night, despite being only 18 years old. He is the youngest player to have reached that milestone at 18 years and 11 months, with the next closest challenger Karim Benzema nearly two years older.

Lionel Messi hit his 10th goal in the Champions League when he was 21, while Wayne Rooney holds the record for Premier League teams at the age of 22.

Although he scored his fourth goal of this year’s Champions League in just six matches, it was not a happy night for the youngster. Paris Saint-Germain were beaten 3-1 by Bayern Munich, with goals from Correntin Tolisso and Robert Lewandowski securing a win for the Bundesliga giants. Despite the defeat, PSG topped their group, with Bayern finishing as runners-up.
