Manchester United have completed the £19 million signing of Diogo Dalot from Porto. The 19-year-old, who plays as a right-back but also is capable of covering on the opposite flank, has signed a five-year contract with United, with the option for a sixth season.
Dalot is yet to be capped by Portugal’s national team and only made his senior debut for Porto last October. The full-back, who made eight appearances for Porto before his switch to Old Trafford, is United’s second signing of the summer after Jose Mourinho’s side secured a £52m deal for Brazilian midfielder Fred on Tuesday. ‘Joining Manchester United is an unbelievable opportunity for me,’ Dalot told United’s official website.
‘I have grown up in Porto’s Academy and I am so thankful for everything they have done for me. ‘But the chance of coming to the biggest club in the world is something I just couldn’t turn down.
‘I’m excited about working with Jose Mourinho and learning everything I can from such a successful coach. ‘I am looking forward to playing alongside the fantastic players in the squad.’
