Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have not travelled with Manchester United’s squad to London ahead of their clash with Arsenal on Saturday, according to reports.
Mkhitaryan has been criticised by Jose Mourinho for his dip in form and was left out of United’s matchday squad for their 4-2 victory over Watford on Tuesday evening. The 28-year-old has played just 19 minutes in United’s last four fixtures and has been left out of the squad completely for the three of those games.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Mkhitaryan was not at Stockport train station with the rest of his teammates on Friday afternoon and is now set to miss the match against Arsenal on Saturday evening.
Ibrahimovic was also a notable absentee from United’s squad on Friday, although the Swede could travel to London separately. The striker is yet to start a game since returning from his cruciate ligament injury which he suffered in April, but has made four appearances as a substitute this month.
Elsewhere, Luke Shaw was part of the travelling squad after he was dropped for United’s last two fixtures. The defender, who has made just two substitute appearances in the Carabao Cup this season, last made United’s squad for the 1-0 defeat to Basel in the Champions League earlier this month but he was left on the bench by Mourinho. The
United manager has already confirmed that Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Marouane Fellaini will miss the match against Arsenal. Nemanja Matic remains a doubt after suffering an injury against Watford but has travelled with United’s squad to London.
