7 Key Lessons From David K Williams On Leadership

One of the few business leaders I admire so much is David K Williams.

As a social media strategist, the number one thing that keep me almost 24hours online is because I have been able to connect with so many thoughtful and inspirational leaders who has serve as a source of wisdom and inspiration to me.

In David K Williams, I found much more than a business leader but a successful business leader worthy of emulation.

His book, “7 non negotiable of Winning: tying soft traits to hard results” has been very vital to my success and it’s my pleasure to share some of the tips I learned from the book with you.

1. Respect

“Seek to understand others before you seek to be understood”

Respect must come naturally. One of the quote I learned as a child was “you can’t force someone to respect you, but you can refuse to be disrespected”

David K Williams once said “Genuinely caring about your workers as humans not as workers will help them to thrive in all aspects of their lives not just their career but personal lives” This is the foundation of earning respect as a business leader.

2. Belief

“If you believe in yourself, you can fail up and overcome anything”

According to David K Williams, “You can only achieve remarkable success in your organization by empowering individual to own their mistakes and encouraging them to believe in themselves”
To have a firm believe in yourself is very important to your business and organizations.

3. Trust.

“Trust is the foundation of healthy relationship and it must be earned ”

Focus and be interested in people. Trust can easily be earned not by force but by genuinely showing interest in others.

4. Loyalty

” Promise must be more than words, even if they require sacrifice”

Loyalty is very rare,everyone seek for it, but not everyone gets it, if you find it, cherish it and build on it.

5. Commitment

” Hold nothing back and work as this is your last job”

Be committed in providing value, value pays more than anything.

6. Courage.

“Never back down from a challenge, discover the strength to soar”

It takes desire and passion to start but you need courage to keep the sail on.

7. Gratitude

“Seek opportunities to express kindness in words and deed”

Nothing works wonders more than genuine gratitude, learn to always appreciate your staff and client, it will spur them to do more.
