A police officer who normally spends his days searching for illegal drugs has faced a very different challenge – delivering a baby.
Mike Hall, from the West Midlands Police cannabis team, and his colleagues were flagged down by a driver in Wolverhampton, Mirror reports.
They quickly discovered the passenger was in labour and Mike rushed over to help deliver the little girl.
Team leader Mike said: “It was far from your typical call for help but it was definitely one of the most rewarding.
“I have been with the force for more than 30 years and never had to deliver a baby before.
“We receive medical training but nothing can ever prepare you for such a situation. This is a day I won’t forget in a hurry.”
Paramedics quickly arrived at the scene and mother and baby were taken to hospital to be checked over.
The team later shared a photo of the moment after the little girl made her dramatic entry into the world.
They wrote: “I have just delivered a baby at the roadside.”
The photo shows a woman sitting in the front passenger seat of the car being treated by paramedics.
