An unemployed man wins $50m in Australia’s pool

An unemployed man from Sydney’s west has become an instant millionaire, after taking out the $50 million division one prize pool in Powerball, 9 news reports

The man, aged in his 30s, said he and his wife had been talking about what to do with their future when they were informed of their life-changing win.

“No! No! No! Don’t tell me that!” the man exclaimed to NSW Lotteries.

“Are you serious man?!  I’ll probably faint. Hold on. Let me take a deep breath please.

“I don’t know what to do.  What should I do now?  Should I call my mum?  Should I hug my wife?  What do I do?”

The man said he wants to share his prize with his family and friends, and that if he’s winning he “wants everybody along with me to win.”

“I genuinely want to help people – so some sort of charity.

“I want to open a restaurant – that’s my passion – and give 50% of the food away for free to people who need it.

“I don’t need profits, but there are homeless, students who are struggling, and people in need.”

The man bought the lucky ticket online.
