Woman jailed for one year for every £1 she stole from pensioner

A woman has been jailed after she robbed an elderly man of £5. Natalie Lisa Morgan (also known as Natalie Leach) forced her way into the 78-year-old victim’s flat in Hastings, East Sussex.

She went to his home along with another unnamed man in October 2017 and knocked on the door. The man knocked the victim to the ground and pinned him down while she took the cash from his wallet.

The victim managed to summon help and after the pair fled he was taken to hospital where he was found to have suffered a serious back injury after being tackled to the floor. He also had cuts and bruises that were treated at the hospital.

Morgan, 35, has now admitted robbery and has been sentenced to five years in prison at Lewes Crown Court. Detective Constable Julian Stokes, of the investigations team at Hastings police station, said: ‘We have again shown that we are determined to deal with those who target vulnerable members of our society for their own gain.’
