This moment marked their first official appearance together as an engaged couple!
Prince Charles’s office, Clarence House, announced the engagement between Harry and Meghan on Monday morning.
The statement from Clarence House read: “His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle.”
Their wedding is set for the spring of 2018, though no date has been announced yet.
Harry proposed earlier this month in London.
He asked Meghan’s parents for permission before he popped the question, and also received the blessing of Queen Elizabeth, too.
As fifth in line to throne, he needed the Queen’s approval to marry.
They were spotted together in London several times, on dinner dates at the Soho House and taking in a performance of the West End play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Harry also brought Markle as his date to the wedding of one of his close friends, Tom Inskip, in Jamaica, and later on, to Pippa Middleton’s wedding reception.
After a brief photocall, the two headed back inside Kensington Palace. They will sit down for an interview with the BBC on Monday afternoon.
