This Is Me Before You

By Abel Udoekene

I write of myself always,
I play and dance for love.
I might meet you in court
I thought you knew my burden.

This matter of success and failure
Sickens me,
Who is poverty to scare away development?
Who is Racism to enslave love?
Who is terrorism to endanger humanity?

I thought we were one,
I doubt it,
‘He Doesn’t fit’
Do you believe them?
‘He’s too African to belong’
I stared at their confused faces.

This is me before you,
And it’s just me and you,
Don’t be scared,
Let’s trend our stories and change our World ..

#WeAreTrendie… And it’s just me and you
