Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a major boost in the race to sign Ousmane Dembele as Barcelona have reportedly told the winger to look for a new club in the January transfer window.
Dembele has featured more prominently for the Spanish champions this season after a difficult debut campaign in La Liga. But reports have claimed that several senior players in Barcelona’s dressing room are unhappy with Dembele’s attitude as he is regularly late to training and have complained to manager Ernesto Valverde.
Dembele was also dropped by Valverde for Barca’s 2-0 win over Inter in the Champions League last week after arriving 20 minutes late for a pre-match meeting.
According to RAC1, Barca’s hierarchy discussed Dembele’s situation after the game against Inter and are now considering the possibility of selling the 21-year-old in the January transfer window.
The report claims that Barca have decided to act firmly with Dembele and have told the player that he can look for potential new clubs in the upcoming window.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea were heavily linked with the France international during the summer, although the cost of the deal would comfortably break both clubs’ transfer record.
Dembele was signed from Borussia Dortmund for £135.5 million in August 2017 and after a subdued first season at Camp Nou, he has shown flashes of his potential this term with five goals in 12 appearances.
