Alvaro Morata bagged his ninth goal of the season in the 4-0 rout over West Brom and celebrated by making an ‘A’ with his fingers.
The celebration is a new one from Morata and Chelsea fans now know their main striker was honouring his wife, Alice. Morata opened the scoring at West Brom and explained after the game it was a tribute to his wife.
He said on Instagram: ‘Always A I love u so much.’ Morata got married in the summer just before his move to Chelsea.
The Spaniard has hit the ground running and is second in the Premier league scoring charts, averaging a goal every 102 minutes. Chelsea’s 4-0 win over West Brom pushed them up to third in the table as Tottenham dropped to fourth after their loss to Arsenal.
Antonio Conte’s side are still nine points off leaders Manchester City, but Phil Neville believes the partnership of Morata and Eden Hazard should help the Blues gain ground quickly. ‘Yeah they changed the system – he was more central Hazard alongside Morata,’ Neville said .
