Marouane Fellaini was reportedly upset about Jose Mourinho’s recent sacking and could leave Manchester United to join AC Milan this January.
The 31-year-old was among Mourinho’s most trusted squad members and was one of only four United players who still backed the Portuguese before his dismissal last month. Following Ole Gunnar’s Solskjaer’s appointment, Fellaini has only made two substitute appearances and the Belgium international is being heavily linked with a move to Italy.
According to Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad, Milan are ‘back in the running’ for Fellaini this winter and are battling it out with Porto and Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande for the midfielder’s signature. It’s claimed Fellaini was ‘hurt’ by Mourinho’s sacking and is weighing up a move away from Old Trafford.
United are yet to do any serious business in the January window but Solskjaer insists the club have a plan in place. ‘You don’t just plan the next day and next month, I’m sure they’ve got plans, but this transfer window has probably been planned since the summer and the year before,’ United’s interim manager said earlier this month.
The structure is phenomenal, so I’m sure they’ve got their targets, I’m here to voice my opinion on that and I’m sure we’ll sit down, me and Ed, if they’ve got anything in the pipeline.
‘I’m here to work with the ones I’ve got, they’ve all performed and as long as they perform they should get a chance but that’s my job to improve players and individuals.’
