Simple Reasons Christians should Tithe!

Tithing! Abrahamic Not Mosaic?

” And blessed be the most high GOD, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he (Abram) gave him ( Melchizedek ) tithes of all ” – Gen 14:20.

Although Moses wrote the book of Genesis, he was truthful and spiritual enough to pen down that his ancestor gave tithes to the priest of GOD ever before himself was born and  received the law which also required tithing from the nation of Israel the descendants of Abraham.

Therefore, from the above quoted scripture, tithing is obviously Abrahamic and not Mosaic.

It simply means been of The Law of Moses or given by Moses.

Paul uses the terminology when Moses is read in 2Cor 3:15. This means when the Law given by Moses is read not when Moses as a person is read.

So, to say Tithing is Abrahamic and not Mosaic, simply means Tithing is of Abraham and not by the Law.

” And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise ” – Gal 3:29

” And he ( Abraham ) received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet been uncircumcised; that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also ” – Rom 4:11

Christians are of CHRIST, so they are Abraham’s seed or children.

Christians believe, so they have Abraham as their Father.

” They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said unto them, if ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham ” – John 8:39.

Very simple  isn’t it? The children of Abraham do the works of Abraham.

So if Christians are Abraham’s children they would do the works of Abraham isn’t it?

Did Abraham Tithe?  YES!

So should Christians Tithe? YES!

I know some would ask very childish and ignorant questions such as if Abraham tithed did he ask us to tithe ? Didn’t he tithe only once?

They didn’t know the scriptures were written for our learning.

They didn’t know the scriptures were written for our examples.

They didn’t know the scripture is profitable for doctrine.

They didn’t know the scriptures were written so we could be followers or imitators of them who through Faith and patience inherit the promises.

But more evidently they didn’t know GOD said this of Abraham;

” For I (GOD) know him (Abraham), that he will command his children and his household after him and they shall keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgement that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he had spoken of him ” – Gen 18:19.

This is even a lesson for christian parents ” God wants every parent to command their children after them to keep the way of the Lord”

Isn’t it obvious from scriptures that Abraham did command his children after the way of the Lord,  else,  how did his grandson Jacob, learn of tithing that after his encounter with the Lord in a dream he vowed to honor the Lord with his tithe. ( Gen 28:10-22 ).

It is hipocrisy for any Christian to claim to be the child of Abraham and not believe in tithing.

For the sake of space to write here let’s keep it simple, so, to be continued, GOD willing.
