A 5-year-old boy in Ohio has been hailed a hero for saving his parents who overdosed on heroin inside their home in Middletown.
The Middletown Division of Police said in its Facebook page the boy walked two blocks at 5 am in the dark on Friday to his grandparent’s home to seek help.
“Mom and dad’s dead, mom and dad’s dead!” the boy was quoted as telling his grandfather, Kenny Currey, who immediately ran to his stepdaughter’s house to find the couple passed out; apparently from heroin overdose.
Officers were immediately dispatched to the house and also found a 3-month-old baby girl, the boy’s sister, crying in a car seat.
“They are supposed to be her guardians and never let anything bad happen to her,” the police said. “This 5-year-old child, a hero, saved 3 lives today. How can something so awesome be so sad all at the same time?”
According to CNN , the paramedics administered the father with Narcan and was revived. The mother was also given Narcan but had to be taken to the hospital because she failed to regain consciousness. She was later revived and both were taken to jail.
Meanwhile, the boy and the infant were brought into the police department. The boy was given a badge for his bravery.
The names of the children and their parents were not disclosed to protect their privacy.
